AC Milan deprived of Florenzi until February

Alessandro Florenzi underwent surgery on Thursday after a left thigh injury at the end of August and will be sidelined for around five months, AC Milan have announced. The Italian champion club had anticipated this long absence of its 31-year-old defender by recruiting during the last hours of the transfer window, on September 1, the young American international right-back Sergino Dest21, on loan from FC Barcelona.

Florenzi had seriously injured his “tendon of the biceps femoris of the left thigh” at the very end of the match against Sassuolo (0-0), on August 30, and had to have surgery Thursday morning in Finland, AC Milan announced in its press release.

“The operation was a perfect success and Alessandro will return tomorrow (Friday) in Italy to begin his rehabilitation journey. The deadlines for its return to full activity are estimated at five months.or not before the beginning of February, adds the club.

Florenzi was loaned last season to AC Milan by AS Roma, his training club, after having been in previous seasons at Valencia and Paris-SG. This summer, the Rossoneri exercised the purchase option and signed him until 2025.
