Returning to MotoGP during last season, after a first short break, Andrea Dovizioso will, this time, leave the circuit for good. This Thursday, on the sidelines of the British GP which begins this Friday, his Yamaha team announced that the Italian, three-time MotoGP world vice-champion, would stop at the Misano GP on September 4.

“Unfortunately, in recent years, MotoGP has changed profoundlythe 36-year-old pilot said in a statement. The situation has been very different since: I have never felt comfortable with the bike, and I have not been able to fully exploit its potential. »

Currently 22nd overall

At the end of the 2020 season, the Italian had not found an agreement with Ducati, who was then his team and it was found on the transfer market. Waiting for an offer, he finally returned to Yamaha SRT, the Japanese manufacturer’s satellite team for the end of last season.

But the results never came back, the pilot currently occupying 22nd place in the general classification. To end the season, the WithU Yamaha RNF team will call on a MotoGP regular in the person of Cal Crutchlow, former GP rider and current Yamaha test rider.
