Germany and Chelsea goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger said on Tuesday that she was suffering from a recurrence of thyroid cancer. Diagnosed for the first time at the end of 2017, the former female PSG player (31) had healed in four months and had therefore been in remission for four years. “I am working closely with the doctor and specialist at my club in London and my treatment will start this week”detailed the vice-champion of Europe.

Anne-Katrin Berger was the understudy of Merle Frohms, this summer, during the Euro organized in England. She resumed her season with Chelsea by starting against Portland in the third place match of the Women’s International Champions Cup won by OL Women. “I remain confident that my treatment will be as effective as last time and I look forward to getting back on the pitch and seeing you all at Kingsmeadow and Stamford Bridge,” said the international.
Berger has also received support from her club, with whom she has won the last three English Championships. “Everyone at Chelsea is behind her during this difficult time and the club will provide all possible assistance to help her recover quickly.”assured the Blues.
