Axel Disasi on his presence in Qatar: “I’m not here to enjoy the sun”

“What surprises you the most since you arrived in the France team?
I would say that these are the means put in place so that the players can perform. The castle (Clairefontaine)I saw it more on TV, the fact of having slept in it, it’s something not bad (smile). When you arrive in the France team, you feel good there. Afterwards, at the technical level, it’s not bad (smile), There is plenty to do. I learn a little more. Without disrespecting Monaco, here it’s a cut above. In all that is speed and intensity.

How do you view your career and your arrival in the France team?
When I was at the Stade de Reims (2016-2020), the French team was not a priority but, by dint of working, we are getting closer little by little and today I am very proud, that does not is only a beginning, it must be confirmed. I see the whole route, it was not easy. It is a great pride to be there.

When you are a young player, when you discover the Blues, are you careful not to make mistakes, for example by sitting in the wrong place in the bus?
Each of the players has habits, we pay attention to that. The group is very very cool, I was very well received. I have to stay myself, I’m lucky to have Youssouf (Fofana) and Aurelien (Chuameni) that I know well.

“Didier Deschamps told me he had confidence in me, he told me that I was doing my job well with my club”

How would you describe yourself? What is your strength?
My natural qualities: all that is power, my game intelligence, my anticipation, my technical quality. I have some pretty impressive physical attributes. I had to fight to show that I could do something else.

What role can you expect in this competition? Have you discussed this with Didier Deschamps?
I did not necessarily exchange directly with him. He told me he had confidence in me, he told me that I was doing my job well with my club. I am here to learn. This is a first gathering for me. I am here to observe, to learn. Afterwards, I’m a competitor, if I’m there it’s to play, it’s not to enjoy the sun. As a competitor, you want to play, it’s competition, it’s the player’s choices. Show in training that we have the quality.

What kind of matchup do you expect against Australia?
Australia is a team that plays with a lot of physical impact, we will have to start well. We expect a difficult game. Each team is going to want to go for it”.
