Bagnaia on pole in the Aragon GP, Johann Zarco 5th, Fabio Quartararo 6th

The MotoGP qualifications follow one another and begin to resemble each other: with a Ducati from the official team in pole position. After Jack Miller at Misano, it was Francesco Bagnaia who set the fastest time in Q2 this Saturday at the Aragon Grand Prix. This will further complicate the task of Fabio Quartararo, who will start from 6th place.

The Frenchman had saved resources for the end and he snagged a ticket for the second row, but it was the Ducati who made their mark. Winner of the last four GPs, Bagnaia took his fifth pole of the season, beating the old circuit record he himself set last year (1’46”069 against 1’46” 322).

Behind the Italian driver, the Australian Jack Miller set the second time, and Enea Bastiani (Gresini) the third. A great operation for Ducati who monopolize the first three places on a track that suits their machine well. “We did a great job. Bagnaia reacted. I tried to do the perfect lap. I’m happy because tomorrow we can start the Grand Prix in the best possible way. »

Difficult mission for Quartararo

After irregular tests, Aleix Espargaro (Aprilia), 3rd in the Championship, slipped into 4th place, and Johann Zarco, who passed through Q1, secured a start from 5th place. For Quartararo, still leading the World Championship but who sees Bagnaia melt away from him (30 points), the mission still looks very difficult. The Frenchman, who had been very hot in turn 2 of the first time attack, managed to grab 6th place.
