Again, at trial of Benjamin Mendy, yesterday had its share of unforeseen events. While the hearing of the fifth plaintiff (who accuses Mendy of rape on the night of July 24, 2021) was due to begin, it has been postponed until early next week.
The reason: “new information” has been brought to the file, and the various parties must discuss it today, in private, while settling a legal point concerning the next alleged victim. Thus, yesterday, the hearing lasted only about an hour, the time for the prosecution to issue some additional evidence about two of the previous cases studied.
They were essentially transcripts of exchanges of messages. Some of which between the fourth plaintiff and Mendy, in which the latter seemed to demand that she “come” to see him on various occasions, and others between two alleged victims, in which one of them displayed her desire not to “getting involved” in this affair (she finally denounced the facts to the police). The jury was then released at midday and will therefore not return to court until Monday morning.
