Bernard Foley recalled to the Wallabies for the first time in three years

Australia will host South Africa twice (August 27 and September 3), on the third and fourth days of the Rugby Championship. Dave Rennie, the Wallabies coach, released the list of 35 players called up to prepare for this double confrontation on Thursday. And among them is Bernard Foley (32 years old).

The opening half, finalist of the World Cup in 2015, has not played in the national team for three years, having chosen to continue his career in Japan. With Quade Cooper injured and James O’Connor and Noah Lolesio not Rennie’s first choice, Foley could have his chance against the Springboks and celebrate his 71st international cap.

Many returns to the Wallabies

Several other players are also back with the Wallabies, after being injured or absent for personal reasons: winger Andrew Kellaway, center Hunter Paisami, hooker Dave Poreckiet and props Angus Bell, Scott Sio and Allan Ala’ alatoa.

Michael Hooper, the captain of the Australian XV, is still absent. He had decided not to face Argentina, during the first two days of the Rugby Championship, to protect his mental health. Australia remains on a severe defeat against the Pumas (48-17).
