“What do you remember from the transfer window?
Already, I’m very happy that it’s over, because it’s big nonsense. And then, strangely, this morning I found a much happier group, more liberated in the heads, individually and collectively. And us too, because once again, it’s nonsense, especially the last days, it’s complete folklore. I don’t know where we’re going but it’s still quite picturesque what we can live in the last few days and the people who take care of recruitment have a lot of merit and courage to support everything they have to support.
“Perhaps we would have liked to still have with Steve (Mandanda) one or two players of the same profile, to bring a little more serenity in the complicated moments that we may experience”
How do you assess it?
In terms of movements, we knew that behind, we were going to have some because Nayef (Aguerd) left (West Ham) and that Warm (Omari) is out for several months, it was expected. In the middle, there is no movement and it is in front, a little, where we had movement not necessarily expected or planned. But that’s one of the things that can change in a transfer window, so the group I have suits me perfectly. We have young players to develop, but we are lucky to have kept backbone players from last year: our four full-backs were there, our whole midfield was there with young people who complete it, and our eccentrics were there, so it’s a greater guarantee of stability. Maybe we would have liked to have still with Steve (Mandanda) one or two players of the same profile, to bring a little more serenity in the complicated times that we may experience, but it is also up to those who were there, who took an extra year, to assume that too, to take over.
How do you perceive the departure of Gaëtan Laborde?
He lived up to the expectations we placed on him last season. Afterwards, there are transfer windows where opportunities arise for players and clubs, it was one for him and one for us to do Amine (Goiri). I can only salute what he did with us in terms of performance and behavior, and afterwards, football is like that. I know Amine very well, I know he can bring us a lot also in another style, but I thank Gaëtan for what he brought us.
“Christopher Wooh? He is a good defender, a boy who has great potential, a large size, good defensively.
And the arrival of Christopher Wooh in place of Loïc Badé?
He is a young player who we had already identified last year, whom I had spoken to on the phone, who had signed for Lens. He’s a good defender, a boy with great potential, a large size, good defensively, a young player with things to improve. It is also interesting for us coaches to have this kind of player, but he is ready to play, he will enter the rotation of the central defense. Afterwards, we talk about the transfer window and the recruits but we managed to keep a lot of players who had participated in the good last season so that’s a good sign too, it was perhaps not the easiest thing to do. »
