Charles Leclerc, after his pole at Monza: “The weekend is going very well so far”

Charles Leclerc (Ferrari, 1st in qualifying): ” It’s incredible ! It wasn’t such an easy session, I knew the car had potential but you had to do everything to get a good lap. I managed to put everything on the last lap in Q3, I’m very happy with my lap and our level of performance. The weekend is going very well for the moment, the feelings are very good. I hope to do as well as in 2019. I took more risks on the last lap, and it worked. »

Max Verstappen (Red Bull, 2nd in qualifying, 4th on the grid): “It was tight with the Ferraris but we deliberately chose to start with more downforce. On one lap, it wasn’t ideal, but for the race, it can work in our favour. I’m going to start a little further behind but it’s still a good lap and it promises a good battle tomorrow (sunday). I will try to avoid trouble at the first corner, and then try to come back. »

Carlos Sainz (Ferrari, 3rd in qualifying, 18th on the grid): “It’s been a very good session, I was able to attack very hard in Q2 and Q3, with a car that I felt very good at the wheel of. But in Q3, I didn’t have the slipstream and I lost a few tenths that might have allowed me to get the best time. But hey anyway I knew I was going to leave among the last… I took a lot of risks to compensate for the lack of aspiration. It’s painful to start from the back of the grid because the car is very competitive. But I will try to put on a good show for the fans, and maybe a double. »
