While the Brazil players were in the middle of a training session on Friday afternoon, the CBF released a video statement from the Seleçao doctor, Rodrigo Lasmar. The latter has officially confirmed Neymar’s withdrawal for Monday’s game against Switzerland, as announced earlier today. Defender Danilo is also injured (sprain) for this second day of group G.
“The players have been reassessed and as we had already said on Thursday evening, we thought it was important to do an imaging examination in order to have more data on the evolution of the injuries, explained the doctor. The examinations showed a contusion of the lateral ligament of the right ankle for Neymar, as well as a small bone edema, and an injury of the medial ligament of the left ankle for Danilo. We can already say that we won’t have both players for our next game, but they remain in treatment with the team. Our goal is to try to get them back as soon as possible in the competition. »
