On Saturday night in Copenhagen, France lost their title of champion of the Nations Cup (eNations Cup) on the virtual football game Fifa. It was the team representing Brazil who took the trophy after very close matches.
From July 27 to 30, 24 teams competed for the title for the second edition of the tournament after a cancellation due to the Covid pandemic, in a big comeback in front of the Danish public.
Arrived only in third place in their group behind Argentina and Denmark, the Brazilians were not considered favorites entering the knockout stage. However, they reached the final after three matches won by one point (against Spain, France and Italy). Paulo “PHzin” Henrique’s side were no exception in their last match, beating Poland 2-1 to claim the trophy and the $120,000 cash prize.
Crowned champion during the first edition in 2019, the French team did not deserve. But despite a very good start to the tournament (launched by three group victories in a row), the trio made up of Leandro “LPeixoto” Peixoto, Julien “Fouma” Perbal and Ilias “NKantee” El Rhazzaz struggled in their last matches to snatch the last qualifying place. France was finally ejected from the quarters by the eventual winner.
The Nations Cup has concluded a trio of major finals that have followed one another in recent weeks, following the world Cup won by the German Umut “Umut” Gültekin then the Club World Cupwhich crowned the Europeans of Movistar Riders.
