Former FIFA President Sepp Blatter believes in an interview with the Swiss tabloid BlickFriday, that Iran should be excluded from the World Cup, while demonstrations in the country after the death of Mahsa Amini in the jails of the morality police weaken the power. “Iran must be excluded from the World Cup”he said.
Blatter never excluded Iran from competition
Relaxed in July with Michel Platini in the case of the payment of 2 million Swiss francs (the Swiss public prosecutor’s office appealed in October), the former leader tackles the ” lack of courage “ of current world football boss Gianni Infantino. He assures that if he were still president of FIFA, he would have excluded Iran (in group B with England, Wales and the USA).
Blick recalls, however, that Blatter himself never banned Iran from competition during his mandates (1998-2015). While the situation in Iran was calmer during this period, women’s rights were not better respected.
