While MotoGP is immersed in his summer break, Francesco Bagnaia remained in skid mode. The Italian rider of the Ducati team (25 years old) was celebrating in Ibiza his victory at the Dutch Grand PrixJune 26, and one of his evenings ended in a minor road accident, on the night of Monday to Tuesday.
The vice-world champion drove off the road without injuring himself or involving other people, despite having a blood alcohol level above the limit authorized in Spain, as he explained on the social networks.
The wheels in the ditch
“Leaving the disco at 3am, I was facing a roundabout when I ended up with the front wheels in a ditch without involving other vehicles or people”wrote Bagnaia, ” sorry “ for this “serious recklessness that should not have happened”. According to the local press, the pilot was checked after the accident with a rate of 0.87 mg of alcohol per liter of exhaled air, beyond the authorized limit of 0.25 mg.
Bagnaia, who describes himself as “virtually non-drinker”claims to have “learned the lesson” and warned his fans: “Never drive after drinking”. Current fourth in the general classification of the MotoGP World Championship, 66 points behind leader Fabio Quartararo, the Italian has an appointment for the resumption of MotoGP on August 7, at the GP of Great Britain.
