Hand – C1 – The Champions League set formalized, Brest and Nantes invited

The table for the men’s and women’s Champions League is now known. This Monday, the European Federation (EHF) has indeed unveiled the list of fourteen invited clubs. As expected, in the women’s category, Brest (finalist of the Butagaz Energie League) benefits from an invitation and joins the champion of France Metz, directly qualified. Among men, Nantes (2nd in Liqui Moly Starligue) also won his ticket and will find PSG, champion of France.

Six other teams benefited from a wild card in the women’s category: Most (RTC), Ferencvaros (HON), CSM Bucharest (ROU), Ljubljana (SLN), Storhamar (NOR) and Kastamonu (TUR). Rostov (RUS) was excluded due to the war in Ukraine. They join the directly qualified clubs: Lokomotiva Zagreb (CRO), Odense (DAN), Esbjerg (DAN), Metz, Bietigheim (GER), Györ (HON), Podgorica (MNE), Kristiansand (NOR), Rapid Bucurest (ROU) .

In addition to Nantes, the men’s Veszprem (HON), Zagreb (CRO), Aalborg (DAN), Elverum (NOR), Plock (POL) and Celje (SLN) have been selected to join the clubs already qualified: GOG Gudme ( DAN), FC Barcelona (ESP), PSG, Magdeburg (GER), Kiel (GER), Szeged (HUN), Kielce (POL), FC Porto (POR), Dinamo Bucharest (ROU). Meshkov Brest (BLR) was excluded due to the war in Ukraine and Vardar Skopje (MAC) for financial irregularities. The draw for both competitions will take place on July 1.
