Raphaëlle Tervel returns to the Hungarian club Györ, the one with which she ended her very successful career, in 2014. Aged 43, she was appointed assistant coach on Wednesday and will officiate alongside the Spaniard Ambros Martin, the team coach.
After playing for a decade in Besançon, then evolving in Spain and Norway, Tervel signed for Györ in 2012. In two seasons, she had each year signed a superb hat-trick: Champions League – Hungarian Championship – Hungarian Cup. With the France team, Raphaëlle Tervel was crowned world champion in 2003 (and finalist in 2009 and 2011).
After stopping her playing career, she coached the Besançon team until last year. Györ is considered the strongest club in women’s handball. He notably won the Champions League five times (the last time in 2019) and was again finalist this seasonbeaten by the Norwegians of Kristiansand (33-31).
