Hand – Liqui Moly Starligue – Montpellier, Toulouse and Saint-Raphaël start their season with a victory

Montpellier did not necessarily shine but provided the essentials this Saturday on the Istres floor (26-29). After an ideal start to the match (1-6, 10th), the Montpellier team tipped over at the break with a comfortable advantage of six goals (10-16), well helped by the Flawless by Hugo Descat at 7 meters (7/8 shooting, 5/5 at 7 m).

But in the second half, Patrice Canayer’s men will settle for the bare minimum, even seeing the Istreans return to two units (21-23, 50th). Never really in danger but unable to count on a weak Rémi Desbonnet (3/19, 19% saves), the MHB started the season on the right foot despite everything.

14 goals for Nemanja Ilic, Vincent Gérard precious

In the other two meetings, Toulouse made short work of Créteil at home (39-31) to start their season ideally. Thanks to a irresistible Nemanja Ilic (14 goals to 14/17 in shooting) and a precious Jef Lettens in the cages (13/26, 50% saves), the Toulousains widened the gap regularly to lead by six goals at the break (19- 13). Before continuing on the return from the locker room despite a slump in the second half (28-18, 41st to 31-28, 52nd).

Finally, Saint-Raphaël painfully dominated Limoges (32-30). In a close encounter from start to finish (never more than a three-goal difference until the 56th), the Azureans were able to count on an excellent Benjamin Bataille (10/12 in shooting) to win. In the duel of international French goalkeepers, Vincent Gerard (14/42, 33% saves) was invaluable – especially at the end of the match with three saves in the last five minutes – unlike a Yann Genty little in success (6/29, 21% of stops).
