Nantes will still dress in XXL this season. As it has done regularly since 2013 in December, the “H” will relocate two flagship posters to Hall XXL at the Beaujoire exhibition center, which can accommodate more than 10,000 spectators. It will be the shock of the Champions League against FC Barcelona, Thursday December 15, and that of Liqui Moly Starligue against Paris-SG on Wednesday December 21.
The European Federation has accepted an adjustment of the calendar
Initially, Nantes should have welcomed a less prestigious opponent in the Champions League at this time, the Norwegians from Elverum. Which would not necessarily have prevented him from filling the huge enclosure, given the club’s know-how and the enthusiasm of its wonderful public.
But Gaël Pelletier, the Nantes president, requested and obtained from the European Federation (EHF) an adjustment of the calendar. With two of the biggest clubs on the planet now on the programme, the atmosphere and revenue are even more guaranteed.
Last year, the H succeeded in relocating three matches in one week at Hall XXL during the same period, against Benfica (33-33) in the European League (C2), then Chambéry (38-29) and PSG (29-30) in the Championship, for a record total of 29,157 spectators.
