Sixth in the final classification of the Liqui Moly Starligue, Nîmes does not yet know if he will receive an invitation to the European Cup for next season. What is certain is that the USAM will experience quite a shake-up this summer.
The end of the cycle had already been recorded with the departure at the end of March of coach Franck Maurice, in office for eight seasons. After the interim provided by assistant Yann Balmossière, a big name will sit on the Gard bench: the Swede Ljubomir Vranjes, former coach of the German club Flensburg, with whom he won the 2014 Champions League, and Hungarian giant Veszprem in particular. Her arrival, already announced in these columnswill be formalized at a press conference early next week.
The Scandinavian will lead a deeply revamped team. Seven players are leaving, Michaël Guigou who bowed out to become club ambassador and youth coach, Rémi Desbonnet, Téodor Paul, Rémi Salou, Baptiste Bonnefond, Kosuke Yasuhira and O’Brian Nyateu. Ahmed Hesham and Benjamin Gallégo, who were at the end of the lease, should however extend.
Nyateu was under contract until 2023, but according to our information, as revealed the voice of the Norththe international half-center (1.88 m, 29 years old, 1 selection) should join Dunkirk this summer, where he will find Franck Maurice.
Jesper Konradsson, the choice of Ljubomir Vranjes
Nyateu was not really in the plans of Vranjes, who planned to bring another centre-half in his luggage. According to our information, it would be his compatriot Jesper Konradsson (1.84 m, 28 years old), who had been playing since 2017 in the Danish club Skjern. The Scandinavian has significant European experience, including 39 Champions League matches (129 goals) for Alingsas and Skjern.
He will be accompanied in the Gard by the left winger of Créteil Boïba Sissoko, who will however probably be absent for several months after his knee injury on the last day of the Championship. Three other recruits will be announced on Tuesday but have already leaked: goalkeepers Alexandre Demaille (Saint-Raphaël) and Joze Baznik (Cesson) as well as another Cessonnais, pivot Hugo Kamtchop Baril.
