Interim Wales manager confirmed until 2026 World Cup

Wales caretaker manager Rob Page, 48, has signed a four-year contract which will see him through to the 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign, it was announced on Monday the welsh federation.

He takes over from Ryan Giggs who resigned last June against the background of legal proceedings for domestic violence. Rob Page had replaced him in November 2020 when the former Manchester United star had to take a step back following accusations of assault by his ex-girlfriend.

With Rob Page at the helm, Wales reached the knockout stages of the Euros in 2021 and also qualified for the 2022 World Cup (November 20-December 18) for the first time since 1958.

“There is no greater honor than coaching the national team and I look forward to the challenge that the next four years will bring, starting with our first World Cup in 64 years.”commented Page on the Federation website.
