Rain tires at the start of the session, slicks in the last quarter of an hour: the first free practice of the Austrian Grand Prix had two times this Friday. On a drying track after the morning showers, the drivers were able to benefit from better conditions over the minutes. All this has benefited Jack Miller, imperial when the humidity comes his way. The Australian from Ducati set the best time in 1’30”756.
Bagnaia and A. Espargaro in difficulty
Behind him, Johann Zarco also showed ease and Frenchman de Pramac finished second at 0”618. Fabio Quartararo took a little longer to gain momentum but he finished well, securing fifth place 1”017 behind the leader, behind Joan Mir (3rd) and Jorge Martin (4th).
During this time, the rivals of the world champion in the general classification had more difficulties: Francesco Bagnaia only achieved the 16th time and Aleix Espargaro the 17th. The second free practice session is scheduled for 2:10 p.m., with weather conditions that promise to be uncertain.
