In difficulty in its European campaign, with five defeats in six Champions League matches, Juventus chained a fourth victory in a row in Serie A on Sunday by winning in the shock of the 13th day against Inter Milan (2 -0). Adrien Rabiot notably distinguished himself with a new goal.
The game: 2-0
In a rather balanced first period between the two teams, it was the Inter players who got the best opportunities. After a first volley from Lautaro Martinez passed just wide (5th), it was Edin Dzeko who saw his header graze the right post of Wojciech Szczesny from a corner (26th).
Just before the break, Denzel Dumfries could also have given the advantage to his team but lacked precision, after an excellent delivery from Nicolo Barella (42nd). Simone Inzaghi’s players left with the same intentions when they returned from the locker room, but Hakan Calhanoglu saw his right-foot shot pushed back on the bar by Szczesny (47th).
Juventus intractable at the end of the match
Solid until then, the Turinese found the opening on their first real opportunity. On the counter, Filip Kostic overflowed at full speed on the left side before centering back towards Adrien Rabiot. The French international then used his right foot to find the small net of André Onana (52nd).
Juventus thought they had doubled the lead a few minutes later, after a good recovery with Danilo’s left foot from a corner, but the Brazilian’s goal was refused because the ball had touched his hand, deflecting its trajectory somewhat (63rd) . Kostic also had the 2-0 ball at the end of his left foot but Onana relaxed perfectly to deflect the Serb’s attempt on his post (76th).
After a last quick attack, led by Angel Di Maria, who had just come into play, Kostic finally offered a second decisive pass, this time to young Nicolo Fagioli (84th). Juventus therefore take advantage of this victory to overtake their evening opponent in the standings and return to the top 5, 4 points behind AC Milan, 2nd.
In difficulty since the start of the season, Juventus have still not lost a single home game in Serie A (5 wins, 2 draws)
