The French women’s team was in the final of the Sydney Tournament against New Zealand this Sunday, after easily beating the United States in the semi-finals (20-7). But the meeting was complicated. From the start of the match, the Blacks quickly took the advantage by scoring two tries in the first five minutes. The second half was also one-sided and the French women lost (0-35) in their first final in the “World Rugby Sevens Series”.
The French men’s team, meanwhile, finished the Sydney Tournament 4th. Opposed to New Zealand in the semi-finals, the Blues did not make the weight (5-36). They had the opportunity to grab a third place and therefore to leave with a bronze medal, against Fiji on Sunday. But once again, they bowed (5-29) by registering only one try at the start of the game (Thomas Carol, 2nd) before cashing a 29-0.
