List of Blues: what you need to know about Randal Kolo Muani

Dynamics of the season

Trained at FC Nantes, Randal Kolo Muani (23) left his cocoon this summer, after offering a Coupe de France to the canary people. The versatile, free striker joined Eintracht Frankfurt and managed a perfect adaptation to the Bundesliga. Undisputed holder at the forefront of the attack in the spirit of Oliver Glasner, his statistics are eloquent, with 8 goals and 11 assists in 23 games in all competitions with his new club.

Kolo Muani notably scored two winners in the last two days of the Champions League group stage, against OM (2-1) and against Sporting CP (2-1), playing a major role in Frankfurt’s qualification for the round of 16. Able to be a point of fixation, he also delights in the vision of the game and his movements, and his dezoning makes him an unpredictable player.

History in Blue

After having honored seven capes with the Hopes, notably competing in the European Championship in March 2021, Randal Kolo Muani participated in the Olympic Games in August 2021, a short but rewarding adventure for him in Japan. In the process, his big season with FC Nantes then his rapid adaptation with Frankfurt convinced Didier Deschamps to summon him for the first time with the A during the gathering last September, with the key to two selections against Austria ( 2-0), September 22, and Denmark (0-2), September 25.

Although he was not in the first list of players to play in the World Cup, he was called up to replace Christopher Nkunkuinjured in a knee during the last training session at Clairefontaine before leaving for Qatar.

Potential World Cup role

Called to replace Christopher Nkunku, Randal Kolo Muani does not really have the same characteristics as the RB Leipzig player. But the former Nantes player has one thing in common with him: great versatility. You might think that his profile makes him a simple center forward, but the native of Bondy is never more dangerous than when he picks up and inserts himself between the lines. His excellent state of mind does not spoil anything, and Didier Deschamps has with him a reliable joker, full of confidence.
