Max Verstappen (Red Bull) Hungarian GP winner : “I didn’t expect to win this race, I was hoping to be able to come back up, but the conditions were complicated. We implemented a good strategy, we always reacted well and made good pit stops. Despite my spin, I was able to win. I suffered a little with the clutch, on the gear changes. It cost us a bit of performance and it surprised me coming out of that corner. I fought with a lot of riders today (sunday), it was very pleasant. The race was crazy and I’m happy to have won it. »
“We are closing the gap”
Lewis Hamilton(Mercedes), second: “I suffered at the start of the race. But I hung on to catch up with those in front, I was more and more comfortable. My team continues to attack, it does not let go. The year is difficult for us but we manage to get back on the podium with both cars. We are at the limit but we are closing the gap with the teams in front of us. I could have come back to Max at the end of the race, I missed a few laps. It could have been even better but the result is still incredible. »
george russell(Mercedes), third: “When I started to suffer with the tyres, it was complicated but we did some very good stints. I suffered with the medium tires but it’s another podium that shows our progress. Of course, we had to manage the tires because we stopped early, then I tried to push as hard as possible. The first part of the season was very intense, I hope that we will take advantage of the summer break to seek victories afterwards. »
