Montpellier won its 7th consecutive victory in the league on Friday, winning at Chambéry (31-30). The fate of the match was decided at the last minute.
After a crazy comeback from Chambéry in the second period (20-15 for Montpellier at the break), the two teams were still neck and neck a few seconds from the end (30-30). Then, with great composure, Hugo Descat knocked out the Savoyards.
The Héraultais could have simplified the end of the meeting. While Montpellier had the game in hand at the break, Chambéry accelerated on the return from the locker room and gradually made up for its delay, well helped by its goalkeeper Harun Hodzic, author of 12 saves (50%).
Thanks to this victory, Montpellier takes the lead in the championship, before the meeting between PSG and Aix-en-Provence on Saturday (8:45 p.m.). Chambéry is now in 6th place.
