It took until the last twenty minutes of the second practice session to see the lap times drop considerably thanks to the stoppage of the rain shortly before – during the Moto3 tests – and a track which dried up very quickly. It was Luca Marini, on the Ducati VR46, who took the first decision to put on slick tires before seeing the pack do the same, starting with Fabio Quartararo.
In much more favorable conditions for him, the Yamaha rider has shown that he will still have to be counted on during this Dutch Grand Prix, if the rain stops coming by Sunday afternoon. Quartararo completed his session with the third fastest time, 3 hundredths (+0.305) behind Francesco Bagnaia.
On his official Ducati, the Italian also picked up the colors by setting the best time (1’33”274). He was ahead of Aleix Espargaro by less than two hundredths (+0”178). Alex Rins (4th), Jack Miller (5th), Joan Mir (6th), Maverick Vinales (7th), Brad Binder (8th) and Marco Bezzecchi (10th) complete the Top 10 where Johann Zarco (9th) managed to get in ), 1”012 behind Pecco Bagnaia.
