Neeraj Kumar, a para-volleyball International Player from India born on the 12th of August on the 12th of August, in Delhi. He is part of the Delhi team as well as being the vice-captain of his team. At a young age, Neeraj loved Volleyball and was keen to join an Indian volleyball club. By putting in a lot of hard work and constant practice, he realized his goal of playing for an Indian Para Volleyball team.

Neeraj Kumar Early Years

Life can be a way of testing the will of a person, but how we manage the difficulties is an individual talent. Neeraj Kumar was with only one leg, however the fact that he was disabled didn’t serve as a barrier to realizing his goals. The sheer determination of his was what led him to join National volleyball.

Domestic Career 

Neeraj’s passion for sports since his childhood and he began playing volleyball at 12 years old. The coach Pawan Khokhar played a significant part in his development and taught and guided him to the right direction.

He didn’t know about the Para game prior to that, and after being disabled due to only one leg trained playing with fit players who always encouraged him. Being able to play with physically fit athletes helped boost his confidence.

Later on in his journey, the athlete began to be aware of Para Volleyball sport. His determination and self-confidence led him to be selected for an entry into the Delhi Para Volleyball team. He played at the state and zonally at the national level and also participated in regional tournaments , where He was awarded the Player of the Match award in a number of matches.

Hardships Day of Injury

On October 23, 2020, a calamity occurred that could have caused a snag in his professional career. While playing volleyball the player suffered an injury to his back. The injury was severe and was able to walk out of his bed. Neeraj realized at first his sporting career was over in the near future. Through by the mercy of God Neeraj was able to recover after receiving treatment at the the Sports Injury Centre in Safdarjung.

Neeraj Kumar and the Family

He was raised by his dad Awadhesh Singh as well as his mom Indu Devi played a significant part in his life and was the most supportive through his life. He was engaged with Shweta Kumari Singh the 20th November, 2017. In the year 2020 the couple welcomed an infant son. They named the child Astitva Singh.
