Montpellier Swiss international goalkeeper Jonas Omlin, shot in the left ankleand defender Enzo Tchato, injured in the left thigh, are unavailable to play Sunday in Clermont during the 14th day of Ligue 1. Omlin (28 years old, 4 selections) should resume training next week, a fortnight before start of the World Cup in Qatar (20 November – 18 December).
“It was too fair for Clermont knowing that we don’t want to take risks. Jonas should return to the sessions next week”, said Montpellier coach Romain Pitau. The Montpellier goalkeeper, who had an ultrasound check on Thursday, will again be replaced by Senegalese international Bingourou Kamara. Omlin is the understudy of Yann Sommer, the goalkeeper of Borussia Mönchengladbach, within the Swiss selection for several seasons.
The 19-year-old right-back Tchato, for his part, suffers from an injury to his left thigh and will be “unavailable for the next two matches”, according to Pitau. Injured against Lyon, he relapsed when he entered the game on Sunday during the defeat in Rennes.
Montpellier, which has just chained five consecutive defeats, occupies the 14th place of the championship before its meeting in Auvergne.
