Qatar World Cup ticket sales pick up

Ticket sales for the World Cup in Qatar (20 November – 18 December) are going well. In the last period open to the general public alone, from July 5 to August 16, 520,532 tickets were sold on the website of the International Federation (FIFA), the only official channel. To date, a total of 2.45 million tickets have been sold, FIFA said on Thursday.

Fans residing in Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United States, Mexico, United Arab Emirates, England, Argentina, Brazil, Wales and Australia are among the biggest buyers. The matches that arouse the most interest are: Cameroon-Brazil, Brazil-Serbia, Portugal-Uruguay, Costa Rica-Germany and Australia-Denmark.

The opening date of the next sales period will be announced in September, before the last, directly at the counters in Doha with the remaining places, just before the competition. More than a million visitors are expected in Qatar, a country of 2.8 million inhabitants, for the first World Cup in history in an Arab country.
