Randal Kolo Muani (France): “The Tunisians wanted more than us”

What do you think of Poland?

We watched the game (against Argentinaeditor’s note) all together. Poland is a big team, with important elements. You have to be ready for this battle.

You touched few balloons against Tunisiawhat did you learn from this match?
The pleasure was above all to play this first match of the World Cup. It’s a childhood dream. We tried to envy. More in the second period because in the first we lost a lot of balls. The coach reminded us of it at half-time. I didn’t touch a lot of balls because we were under pressure and it was difficult to get out. And I think the Tunisians want it more than us.

How to explain that?
It was our problem. A lot of players played with the handbrake, there was a bit of pressure. It’s good for us that we played that game to know how high the level of the World Cup is.

Do you feel like you’ve made progress since the start of the World Cup?
Yes, we learn every day in training. It’s only my third season, I’m climbing the ladder quickly, but I’m talking with Giroud or Mbappé. Above all, I have to progress in front of goal, keep my composure. I also need to improve with my back to goal.

What have you discovered at the international level?
There is a lot of intensity, it changes the championship. It plays faster, there are fewer missed checks. You have to be more focused.

The FFF has complained about Griezmann’s goal, what does it change for you?
It’s important for Antoine because it takes away a goal otherwise. For our morale too, a draw goes better than a defeat.

What do you remember from the first round?
Collective strength. We have a good group, we are all together. From the youngest to the oldest, there is a good exchange. It’s our strength […] Afterwards, I haven’t yet dared to give them advice. It is I who will learn from them.
