Rennes temporarily climbs on the podium, Monaco sinks Angers

Rennes-Montpellier: 3-0

This opposition between two teams with antagonistic trajectories followed the logic of the moment. Rennes chained a fifth success in a row in Ligue 1, against Montpellier, which recorded a … fifth defeat in a row. Terrier, by heading a free kick from Lovro Majer (1-0, 15th), then Arnaud Kalimuendo, by concluding a one-two with Bourigeaud (2-0, 23rd), quickly extinguished the suspense in the face of Amorphous Héraultais.

Xeka, author of a heavy strike on the post (27th), even hinted at the hypothesis of a card. Rennes finally “satisfied” with a 3-0, since Gouiri closed the score with a curled shot from the right (3-0, 85th). Thanks to this success, the Breton club temporarily climbs to third place, pending the Lorient match against Nice (5:05 p.m.).

Rennais Amine Gouiri has scored 1 goal in each of the last 5 L1 games

Monaco-Angers: 2-0

Angers, weighed down by four consecutive defeats when settling down in the Principality, left with even heavier baggage: a fifth failure in a row slipped in, along with some regrets, no doubt. Until Embolo’s opener (1-0, 54th), who took over a center from Vanderson in the area, the SCO had not been undeserved, well helped by Yahia Fofana, who had defeated Ben Yedder on penalty before the break (41st).

Wissam Ben Yedder has failed to convert 8 of his 36 Ligue 1 penalty attempts: no player has failed more often in the top flight since Opta analyzed him (2006/07).

The Angevin goalkeeper, on the other hand, could only touch the shot rolled up by Golovine (2-0, 70th). His team remains stuck in last place, while ASM, which remained on an epic defeat in Lille (3-4)temporarily back to 6th place and can see higher.

Rather comfortable outside, Clermont believed to record in Nantes its third success outside its bases of the season, thanks to a superb header from the Brazilian piston Neto Borges (0-1, 54th), author of his first goal in League 1.

But Mostafa Mohamed took over a center from Ganago, who pulled away in the area to serve his teammate (1-1, 73rd). The Loire-Atlantique club then pushed at the end of the match, without success, especially when Diaw repelled a strike from Simon with a superb save (77th).

Few occasions animated this match between the two Stadiums. We note in particular a superb rush from Balogun, but the Reims striker fired a shot from the left that was a bit too crossed (33rd). In the camp opposite, Le Douaron sent a header which forced Diouf to relax to get it out (68th). In the end, neither team managed to score, due to a lack of precision and realism in front of the goal.
