The Rugby Championship, the equivalent of the Six Nations tournament for the southern hemisphere countries of New Zealand, Australia, South Africa and Argentina, will again test a rule that allows substitution after twenty minutes of a player who received a red card, the organizers of the Rugby Championship organizing committee (SANZAAR) announced on Thursday in a press release.
“This 20-minute red card” is a way to discourage “deliberate acts of anti-play while preserving the 15v15 game that our clubs, broadcasters and fans are committed to”, estimated its president, Brendan Morris. This new test also aims to “to collect the necessary information which may allow the definitive adoption of this rule in the future”he added.
