West Ham have finally pulled their heads above water. The London club earned their first points of the season by going win at Aston Villa (1-0), this Sunday, on behalf of the 4th day of the Premier League. This success will not erase the Hammers’ initial three losses. But it will allow them to launch a season which they are starting with European status for the second time in a row.
At the end of the boredom, Pablo Fornals scored his team’s first goal in the Championship. Found by his captain Declan Rice at the entrance to the area, the Spanish midfielder fired a shot from 20 meters which deceived Emiliano Martinez after being deflected by Ezri Konsa (74th). For Aston Villa, the start of the season is missed. Boubacar Kamara’s new team has only three points on the clock and has already suffered three losses.
Unfortunately, the tricolor winger was injured in added time and he had to give way to Matt Ritchie (90th + 10). We will have to wait a little to see his association with Alexander Isak who has been recruited against €71 million this week and who remained in the stands this Sunday.
Before that, Ruben Neves had opened the scoring on a good back serve from Gonçalo Guedes (38th). The Wolves even thought of doubling the bet and validating their first success of the season after a lightning counter-attack concluded by Raul Jimenez (81st). But the VAR invalidated the goal for a foul that caused the action. Bruno Lage’s team cracked a few minutes later and are penultimate in the Premier League.
