Sainz leads Verstappen in the second free practice session of the Italian GP

On the eve of qualifying for the Italian Grand Prix (Saturday, 4 p.m.), Ferrari once again placed its drivers on the podium of the second free practice session, Friday. On a circuit where the Scuderia saw itself behind, the Spaniard Carlos Sainz set the best time (1’21″664), ahead of the Red Bull of Championship leader Max Verstappen (+0″143). The Monegasque Charles Leclerc, best driver of the first session, is 3rd (+0″193).

Under the eyes of AC Milan striker Olivier Giroud, who came with his family, Lando Norris showed his teeth by taking 4th place (+0 “674) on a circuit where McLaren signed his last victory, the year past.

The Mercedes of George Russell (5th) and Lewis Hamilton (7th) arrive next, the two drivers having complained of ” instability of their single-seater. Sergio Perez (Red Bull) came in 6th position.

The session was interrupted after half an hour, after an incident with Mick Schumacher’s Haas. His engine cut out and the red flag was waved to recover the single-seater.

The third free practice session is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Saturday, with qualifying starting at 4 p.m.
