Sebastian Vettel, 9th in Abu Dhabi GP qualifying: “I enjoyed every lap”

Sebastian Vettel (Aston Martin, 9th in Abu Dhabi GP qualifying): “I’m very happy with how the session went. We have everything set up. I would have liked to have had another set of soft tires in Q3, but overall I think it was very good for us. This puts us in a good position for tomorrow.

This is when you are able to go faster and push the limit, so I enjoyed every lap. I have no regrets today, it’s really a good day! We have a job to do, we want to beat Alfa Romeo and try to get sixth in the standings. »

Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes, 5th in qualifying): “All year we had a lot of brake problems. If one is 200 degrees, the other is 700 or 800 degrees, and when you hit the brakes, the car pulls one way. I have to raise one or the other but I have never been able to match the temperature.

I imagine our race pace will be similar to today’s (Saturday). I don’t know if we will be heading for a podium but if our tire degradation is better then maybe yes. »

Fernando Alonso: (Alpine, 11th in qualifying): “I had no rhythm today. I think I was 13th in EL3 (12th), 15th in Q1 being on the limit. Then 11th in Q2, even if I found this lap correct. And I’m tenth with Daniel’s penalty (Ricciardo) from Brazil. I think it’s okay. We start in the points. I hope to gain places and finish seventh or eighth, which is our normal target. »
