Shortcut, obstruction and “alarm bell” at the trial of Benjamin Mendy

The hearing, interrupted by several breaks, only lasted about three hours, from mid-morning to mid-afternoon. As expected, the debates again concerned the fourth complainant, who accuses Benjamin Mendy of rape on July 23, 2021 and whose case has been studied since last Wednesday.

New testimonies have been delivered. Among them, that of a relative of the alleged victim, a young woman who also accuses Louis Saha Matturie, the co-defendant, of having sexually assaulted him that evening.

Regarding the case relating to Mendy, the witness said in particular that she wanted to meet her friend at the time of the alleged facts, when two men would have blocked her way on the stairs. ” They told me : “Oh, what are you doing?”. […] I insisted on seeing her, but they wouldn’t let me pass, she said. So I went back to the kitchen. » Where, a few moments later, his girlfriend, “a bit elsewhere”would have confessed to him having simply had sex, before giving him more details, later, in the taxi back.

“That’s when the alarm bells started ringing. […] From his description, I immediately said: “It’s rape.” » A judged story “exaggerated” by Eleanor Laws, Mendy’s lawyer, in the cross-examination that followed. The trial should continue this morning, with probably the start of the hearing of the fifth plaintiff, who accuses the Frenchman of rape on the night of July 24, 2021, i.e. in the continuity of the evening previously mentioned.
