Celta Vigo announced on Wednesday the dismissal of its Argentinian coach Eduardo Coudet (48) after the poor results garnered by the Galician club since the start of the season.
“Chacho” Coudet and his entire coaching staff are no longer linked to RC Celta, the end of a successful stint which began on November 12, 2020″, informed the club in a press release.
Coudet, who was still under contract until 2024 (but had a release clause at the end of that season), had succeeded Oscar Garcia as manager of the Galician club. Coudet then left Porto Alegre at the top of their Championship to join Celta, in the red zone on his arrival, but which he saved from relegation in his first season, leading the club to eighth place.
Carlos Carvalho favorite to succeed him
Last season, Celta finished in the midfield of La Liga. But this season, the Galician club is in sixteenth place, one point from the red zone. Of the last fifteen possible points, Celta only pocketed one. According to the Spanish press, the favorite to succeed him would be the Portuguese Carlos Carvalho.
