Goalkeepers: Lafont, first third
Two names stand out widely and logically at the post of doormen: Hugo Lloris, selected in 97.22% of cases, and Mike Maignan (88.10%), although uncertain. Behind it is tighter. And it is the Nantes native Alban Lafont, summoned at the last minute during the final gathering, who completes the trio of cages after having collected 43.86% of the votes. He is ahead in particular of Steve Mandanda (31.36%) and Alphonse Areola (24.74%).
Defenders: a trend is emerging
This is one of the sectors where competition is fiercest, despite the various physical glitches. Both recently injured, Raphaël Varane (91.50%) and Lucas Hernandez (95.90%) are no less popular. Just like Theo Hernandez (96.40%), for whom the opinion is – almost – unanimous. To this trident are added six other players rather expected and without debate to trust the figures: Benjamin Pavard (73.14%), Jonathan Clauss (72.51%), Jules Koundé (72.50%), Presnel Kimpembe ( 72.23%), Ferland Mendy (65.87%) and William Saliba (53.29%), as the last choice. Conversely, Lucas Digne (35.87%), Wesley Fofana (30.77%), Ibrahima Konaté (28.11%), Dayot Upamecano (27.49%) or Benoît Badiashile (25.32%) do not have not had your favors.
Backgrounds: the obvious Tchouaméni, and then…
Deprived of its metronomes N’Golo Kanté and Paul Pogba, the tricolor midfield is still uncertain. Only one choice is necessary: that of Aurélien Tchouaméni (90.86%). After him, the other applicants are less clear. Eduardo Camavinga (62%), Adrien Rabiot (60.54%), Mattéo Guendouzi (46.83%) and Youssouf Fofana (42.43%) come out on top, while, for example, the options leading to Thomas Lemar ( 17.26%) and Tanguy Ndombele (12.29%) did not convince.
Attackers: Coman rather than Nkunku
The biggest surprise is perhaps on the offensive level. Fully performing for a year with Leipzig, Christopher Nkunku (44.51%) fails at the gates of your selection. You notably preferred Kingsley Coman (69.34%), or Ousmane Dembélé (77.77%). Olivier Giroud is very present (84.56%), alongside the unstoppable named Antoine Griezmann (87.55%), Karim Benzema (95.42%) and Kylian Mbappé (96.71%). Note that Wissam Ben Yedder (7.15%), Martin Terrier (5.96%) and Randal Kolo Muani (2.06%), to name a few, are very far from the mark.
