The Davis Cup will be part of the ATP calendar from next year, under an agreement signed on Monday between the ATP, the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and Kosmos Tennis, the rights holder of the competition.
“The Davis Cup Finals and qualifying matches will now be an integral part of the 2023 ATP Tour schedule, taking place in weeks 5, 37 and 47” announces the organization of the Davis Cup in a communicated. “This integration will help players plan their annual schedule when they are selected to play for their national Davis Cup team. The Finals will continue in its current format, offering $15 million in prize money to players in 2023.”
2 of the 6 seats of the new Davis Cup Committee allocated to the ATP
This new partnership should enable strategic collaboration in terms of governance and the evolution of the competition. The ATP is thus allocated 2 of the 6 seats on the new Davis Cup Committee, alongside the ITF and Kosmos.
This partnership officially unites the ATP and the ITF around the Davis Cup for the first time in history. “Our goal is always to create the best possible experiences for our fans and players.ATP President Andrea Gaudenzi said in a statement. Providing exciting international team competitions that align with the year-round calendar and continue to innovate is a key part of this. The Davis Cup has an incredibly rich history and we are thrilled to see this important new alliance grow the event from 2023.”
