For its last match of the year 2022, the France Espoirs team was scuttled on Saturday in Caen, conceding a draw against Norway in a friendly match (1-1). Amine Adli was the only scorer for the French (17th), against an opponent they will meet again in June in their group for the next European Championship.
The game: 1-1
For first steps of Mohamed Simakan and Lucas Chevalier, the Bleuets quickly entered the game. After three first chances for Amine Adli (2nd), Michael Olise (3rd) and Arnaud Kalimuendo (4th), the first city found the opening in the 17th minute of play following a magnificent collective movement. He was first served in the area by Kouadio Koné before exchanging a one-two with Olise and deceiving the Norwegian goalkeeper with his left foot.
After a new attempt (22nd), the Bayer Leverkusen player tried to serve Kalimuendo, still without success (33rd). Sylvain Ripoll’s players continued to push throughout the first period and got another big chance just before the break (45th). After a first strike from Maxence Caqueret, it was Koné who tried his luck but found the post.
A guilty release
On the whole of the meeting, the French will only have been worried twice by their adversaries. The first danger came after Adrien Truffert lost the ball, but Lucas Chevalier relaxed perfectly to deflect Christos Zafeiris’ attempt with his left foot (35′).
After a good start to the second half, and two chances for Kalimuendo (51st) and Amine Gouiri on a free kick (52nd), the Bleuets lost intensity with the various changes and were surprised by a well-rounded Norwegian counter, concluded by Johan Hove (83rd). The last strike from Khephren Thuram (88th) did not prevent the French from conceding a draw.
