Transfers: OM, in agreement with Lorient, negotiates with Terem Moffi

Pablo Longoria was in Lorient on Tuesday, and the president of OM returned to Marseille with something concrete. OM and the Breton club have reached an agreement on the basis of a transfer of Terem Moffi (23), the amount of which has not been filtered but which could reach 18 M€ including bonuses (14 + 4 M €) plus the sale of Bamba Dieng, valued at around €5 million.

There are still a few technical details to be settled on the bonuses, which OM would like to link to Marseille’s qualification for the Champions League, or on the staggering and terms of payment. But the two clubs agree on the main lines, while the player is also coveted by Nice.

The presence in the deal of Dieng (22), the Olympian striker, suits everyone. Lorient would thus reduce the resale percentage due to Kortrijk, the Nigerian striker’s former club, and Loïc Fery would reassure his supporters by already having a replacement on hand. For their part, OM would find an ideal way out in the Senegalese, who have been cold with management since he was sidelined last summer and who does not intend to extend to Marseille.

Moffi has the cards in hand

There is no doubt that stealing Moffi from the Nice club or even forcing him to outbid would also delight a resentful Longoria, after the episode of aborted transfer from Dieng to Nice at the last moment at the beginning of September (the OGCN had mentioned a concern during the medical visit). Also coveted by Everton, the Marseille striker is still thinking but he should not object to making the trip to Lorient.

The Hakes, already very interested last summer, have shown their desire to recruit him for many months. And the English project is uncertain when Frank Lampard has just been dismissed and the Toffees are penultimate in the Premier League. There remains an obstacle, and not the least: OM must now reach an agreement with Moffi, while Nice is still the favorite destination of the Nigerian striker and his entourage. It’s a first step, the two parties discuss. The key is now in the hands of Lorient.
