Umut Bozok was not in the group during FC Lorient’s only official meeting this season, in Rennes (1-0). The Turkish striker has taken part in Les Merlus’ pre-season preparations, but the likelihood of him staying in Brittany this summer is extremely low. Many European clubs have ticked off the name of the top scorer of the Turkish Championship 2022 as the end of the transfer market approaches.
One of them has already made an offer: the Turkish champion. Trabzonspor offered FCL around €3m to buy out the last two years of the former Nîmes player’s contract. The two clubs are still negotiating. Other big Süper Lig clubs have also positioned themselves, such as Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe, without having submitted a concrete proposal to the Lorient management.
Bozok is coming off a very successful season in Turkey. In addition to his 20 goals in 38 Championship matches, he delivered 7 assists, which earned him a first call-up to the Turkish selection in March.
