ThunderboltUnion Bordeaux-Bègles. Whereas South West had revealed last week that a departure of Christophe Urios (56 years old) before the end of the season was under study, according to our information, the decision was ratified today by Laurent Marti.
The UBB president, who had already been wondering for several weeks, took the plunge after the manager extended last year his contract until June 2025. Urios pays for the poor results of his team, currently 11th in the Top 14.
This early break will cost UBB dearly since Christophe Urios had two and a half years of contract left, arriving in 2019 from Castres. According to our information, the sum to be paid would be around 1.2 million euros. Negotiations between the two parties will begin very soon.
To replace Urios, Laurent Marti is thinking of Yannick Bru. The former hooker is currently engaged with South African Province Sharks. But his contractual situation should not pose a problem for an immediate arrival, even if the former coach of the forwards of the XV of France would have preferred to start his mission next season.
