I am happy to say that we have secured funding. We will honor the terms of our players’ contracts and pay them in full for the month of August today (Wednesday),” Worcester co-owner Jason Whittingham said in a statement.

A sigh of relief for the club which has canceled pre-season game against Glasgow to take place on Friday precisely to prevent players from being injured if they were to find themselves without a contract. Financial difficulties resulting from a request for judicial liquidation following an unpaid tax of more than 6 million pounds.

Whittingham added, however, that non-playing staff would only receive 65 per cent of their monthly wages, with the club working on a solution to pay the remainder within five working days. A situation still very precarious so only 10 days before the opening of the championship.
